The historic and incomparable Senator Restaurant, long associated with live music, is set to continue its successful new LIVE concert series for the summer: the ‘Senator Serenade from the Balcony’ — every Friday this July!
The Victoria Street mainstay has taken musical matters into their own hands, transforming their balcony into a well-spaced stage 25 feet off the ground to ‘Serenade’ patrons and passers by alike every week from 4:00 – 6:00 pm.
“It’s a Senator Serenade from the Balcony,” Senator Restaurant operations manager Sybil Walker enthuses of creative and safe workaround to satisfy Toronto live music lovers in the time of COVID-19. “In the spirit of making lemonade out of lemons, we are hoping to raise our community’s spirit with this balcony concert series.”
And speaking of lemonade, a freshly squeezed selection of the restaurant’s summertime specialty will be on sale at street level by Senator staff, as well as pastries, sweets, coffee, tea, and more.
This rest of this month’s lineup includes:
Friday, July 10th – Ori Dagan, Nathan Hiltz & Alison Young
Friday, July 17th – Laura Hubert, Nathan Hiltz & Shawn Nykwist
Friday, July 24th – Ori Dagan, Michael Shand & Alexander Brown
Friday, July 31st – Natasha Buckeridge & Steve John Dale
Located directly behind Yonge-Dundas Square, the outdoor endeavours will continue throughout the summer. Audiences at home can tune into the livestream via the Senator’s Facebook page, and have the opportunity to tip performers virtually.
