Toronto R&B Artist Divine Lightbody Explores Situationships in Her New Single “Homies”

Toronto R&B artist, songwriter & Multi-instrumentalist Divine Lightbody shares her smooth, sultry new single “Homies” today. “Homies” is a light-hearted take on being in a situationship, Divine’s effortless, sensual vocals and confessional lyrics glide through its heavenly accompanied piano melody. Through authentic storytelling and amazing instrumentation on the production, Divine Lightbody aims to take the genre back to its raw form.

Written by Divine Lightbody and produced by Savvan (Luna Elle, musical direction for YK Osiris), mixed and mastered by adamjosh (Grammy (Spellemanprise) nominated and Juno winning) “Homies” is an intimate collaboration with Divine’s tender vocals caressing the melody, letting her partner know “You, and me Body to body, When you hold me like that, We can never be homies, that’s that”.

“You know all my songs are based on a true story,” Divine Lightbody says. “Homies” is a song about wanting to be more than just friends with that someone you’ve had your eyes on, because low key they make you feel a certain way when you’re with them. It’s about the inner workings of the infamous ‘situationship’. This song is written about those times when a situationship is unavoidable with someone that wants a relationship, and feels that the physical and emotional connection is too strong to stay just friends. This song invites that person to explore what a real relationship would look like between them.”- Divine
