As fans eagerly await the release of their favorite artists’ new albums, the excitement can be overwhelming. To help fill that gap, Spotify has launched a groundbreaking vodcast series, Countdown To, giving fans an intimate, behind-the-scenes look at their favorite artists’ latest projects as the clock ticks down to album releases.
In July, Spotify introduced Countdown Pages, a feature designed to help artists build anticipation for their new music. This tool, accessible directly on an artist’s page, allows fans to preview tracklists, watch exclusive Clips, purchase merch, and even track the seconds until the official release.
Now, Spotify is enhancing this experience with Countdown To, which takes fans deeper into the creative process. The series features artists sitting down with fellow musicians, collaborators, family, or friends to discuss the themes, inspirations, and stories behind their upcoming albums. It offers a unique look at everything that goes into making an album.
“Countdown To is the latest effort in our ongoing commitment to spotlight artists and their new music on Spotify,” says Sarah Patellos, Head of Spotify Music Studios. “Working with director Karam Gill and mgx creative, these intimate conversations are shot documentary-style to truly explore each artist’s creative journey.”
Clips from the series will be available on each artist’s Countdown Page, while the full vodcast episode can be watched on Spotify and Spotify’s YouTube profile.
The debut episode features a candid conversation between Jelly Roll and MGK about Jelly Roll’s forthcoming album, Beautifully Broken. While fans have to wait until October 11 to hear the full album, this episode gives a deeper look into the music and the pair’s once-contentious artistic rivalry. “I got to sit down with MGK and give viewers a real window into a candid conversation between two artists as a part of Countdown To,” says Jelly Roll.
