Check out this cool video demonstration of the third version of Rhythmicom built by Leon Theremin at Moscow State Conservatory in early 1960s. Theremin was a Russian and Soviet inventor, most famous for his invention of the theremin, one of the first electronic musical instruments and the first to be mass produced. The first Rhythmicon was developed by Theremin for Henry Cowell in 1932, making it the first rhythm machine ever built. You know who likely wants this really badly? Martin Gore of Depeche Mode, since he likes buying this stuff on eBay.
And The Crowd Goes Wild At A Phillies Game…For A Squirrel In The Dugout
The Phillies hosted the Cardinals at Citizens Bank Park when a squirrel climbed across the netting behind home plate and dropped into the Phillies dugout. The squirrel actually landed on Chase Utley as several players scrambled out of the way. The squirrel quickly scurried out of sight.

The Tea Party Commemorate 20th Anniversary Of ‘The Edges Of Twilight’ With Reissue And Tour
To commemorate the 20th anniversary of The Edges of Twilight, The Tea Party have announced the release of a deluxe remastered CD, remastered LP, and a North American tour. It has been 20 years since the group released the iconic album featuring such singles as Sister Awake and The Bazaar. The band will kick off the tour in Windsor, ON, on September 4th for two HOMETOWN SHOWS at the Olde Walkerville Theatre. The tour will stop all across Canada, and fans can look forward to seeing the band perform the album in its entirety. Tickets go on sale this Friday, June 26th and the remastered album will be released on September 4th with Universal Music Canada, the country’s leading music company.
The three founding members of the band, Jeff Martin, Jeff Burrows and Stuart Chatwood are looking forward to sharing this album with their fans again. Frontman Martin says; “People often ask me ‘what does The Edges of Twilight mean to me as a musician?’ My answer, although not so simple, is simply this: it was the crystallization and the manifestation of an incredible musical vision between the three of us, and the fact that it was achieved in such a way was probably, and is still, one of the proudest musical achievements of my life.”
While Burrows (drums) “remembers writing a lot of that with the guys just in a basement in our hometown, which was the most ironic part about it because it turned into such a worldly album. With all of the pieces and parts connected to it, it was just an interesting growth from where we came from to where we wanted to go, and where we ended up.”
Chatwood (bass and keys) shares how the band’s travels strongly influenced this album. “After we came off the road for ‘Splendor Solis’ the time was set for us to head to the studio for ‘Edges of Twilight’ and our musical travels informed that record, and we expanded the band’s sound going in the direction of incorporating world music instruments. So, it was just a monumental record of our career and it sort of set the main signpost that dictated where the band was to head musically for the subsequent releases.”
VIP packages for the tour will be available through MapleMusic beginning this Friday at 10am EST at http://www.ticketbreak.com/theteaparty. The band will also launch a PledgeMusic campaign on Friday, which will include a chance to purchase memorabilia, ticket bundles and so much more. All of the details for pre-order bundles can be found at www.pledgemusic.com/projects/tea-party-eot20. General ticket sales begin on Friday, details will be made available on the band’s website at www.teaparty.com.
The Edges of Twilight, originally released on March 28, 1995, hit double platinum and was nominated for two Junos. The title of the album was taken from a chapter of the book Fire in the Head, by American author Tom Cowan, which also inspired the name of the first track on the album. Universal Music Canada will release both a deluxe edition CD of the album and a 2LP 180 Gram Heavyweight Vinyl edition of the original release. The 2-CD Deluxe, Digital Deluxe, Mfit & Vinyl Editions will include newly remastered audio. The deluxe CD and digital deluxe will also include a second bonus disc that will consist of alternate, live, radio sessions and bonus audio and the booklet will feature the story of the album with new band interviews and previously unseen photos. The Vinyl edition will include the newly remastered audio across 2 x 180 gram heavyweight vinyl that will be housed in a gatefold sleeve.

Director Laura Poitras (The Oath, My Country, My Country) had already been working on a film about surveillance for two years, when Snowden contacted her in January 2013 using the name “Citizenfour”. When Snowden revealed he was a high-level analyst driven to expose the massive surveillance of Americans by the NSA, Poitras persuaded him to let her film.
CITIZENFOUR goes behind-the-scenes with Poitras, Greenwald, and Snowden as they attempt to manage the media storm raging outside their Hong Kong hotel room, forced to make quick decisions that will affect their lives and the lives of all around them. The documentary explores the dangers of governmental surveillance and attempts to get viewers to rethink their digital footprint.
The documentary is directed, filmed, and produced by Laura Poitras, edited and produced by Mathilde Bonnefoy, and produced by Dirk Wilutzky. Co-producers are Katy Scoggin and Kirsten Johnson. Executive producers are Steven Soderbergh, Jeff Skoll, Diane Weyermann, David Menschel, and Tom Quinn. #MMVAs Release: EarnED It! 2015 MUCH MUSIC VIDEO AWARDS Winners Announced
The 2015 MUCH MUSIC VIDEO AWARDS stunned in a multi-channel super simulcast tonight, with this year’s biggest winner, Toronto’s own alternative R&B sensation and first-time MMVA performer The Weeknd, scooping up four awards for Video of the Year, Best Director, Best Pop Video, and Most Buzzworthy Canadian. The broadcast’s charming co-host Ed Sheeran scored two MMVAs for Best International Artist and Most Buzzworthy International Artist, with local duo, and Drake collaborator, Majid Jordan picking up Best MuchFACT Video for “Forever”. Eddie Van Halen doesn’t listen to music.
Eddie Van Halen doesn’t listen to music.
This is not a fake-out or a misdirection, nor is it a seemingly straightforward statement that actually means its opposite. Eddie Van Halen does not listen to music. “I don’t listen to anything,” he tells me from a greenish couch inside 5150, the expansive home recording studio built on his seven-acre residence in Studio City, Calif. I’d just asked if he ever revisits old Van Halen albums, but his disinterest in those records is merely the tip of a very weird iceberg: Unlike every other musician I’ve ever met, he does not listen to any music he isn’t actively making. The guitarist maintains that the last album he purchased was Peter Gabriel’s So, when it came out in 1986. He’s not familiar with the work of Radiohead, Metallica or Guns N’ Roses. He appears to know only one Ozzy Osbourne song Randy Rhoads played on, and it’s “Crazy Train.” He scarcely listened to Pantera, even though he spoke at the funeral of the group’s guitarist and placed the axe from Van Halen II inside the man’s casket. He doesn’t listen to the radio in his car, much to the annoyance of his wife (“I prefer the sound of the motor,” he says). He sheepishly admits he never even listened to most of the bands that opened for Van Halen and worries, “Does that make me an asshole?” Sometimes he listens to Yo-Yo Ma, because he loves the sound of the cello. But even that is rare.
“It’s an odd thing, but I’ve been this way my whole life,” he continues. “I couldn’t make a contemporary record if I wanted to, because I don’t know what contemporary music sounds like.”

What Paul McCartney and Rod Stewart Mean for Rap’s Future
The Rihanna-infused “FourFiveSeconds” raised some considerable questions about the intergenerational McCartney-West partnership, particularly among hip-hop fans. Had it not been for the more characteristic “All Day,” those concerns would’ve assuredly turned into declarations that West had fallen off, gone too far down some rock ’n’ roll rabbit hole.
So it was especially surprising when A$AP Rocky dropped a track with none other than Rod Stewart while announcing the release date for At.Long.Last.A$AP, his highly anticipated Danger Mouse-hemled follow-up to Long.Live.A$AP. Sampling the storied rock singer’s appearance on Python Lee Jackson’s largely forgotten gold nugget “In a Broken Dream,” “Everyday” also featured contributions from Miguel and Mark Ronson, the latter incidentally the stepson of Foreigner guitarist Mick Jones. A.L.L.A. followed not long thereafter, and multiple critics were quick to cite its psychedelic rock qualities. In press surrounding the release, Rocky even teased a joint mixtape with Stewart—described by Flacko as a “panty-dropper”—though he subsequently revealed that to have been a joke.
All kidding aside though, this season’s most essential rap accessory became a rock ’n’ roll geezer. And if we’re willing to speculate on this as an emerging trend, it’s probably just a matter of time before a second wave of copycats come through. Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young Thug? Aloe Blacc Sabbath? James Taylor Gang? While these scenarios sound like semi-clever responses to a jokey Twitter hashtag, all suddenly seem possible now in this burgeoning rap rock redux.
