Gap Launches Fall ‘Get Loose’ Campaign Starring Global Pop Star Troye Sivan

Gap debuts its Fall 2024 campaign, featuring dancers and artists showcasing the brand’s fall denim collection as a canvas for creativity. The campaign champions originality through fashion, music, and dance.

The campaign, titled “Get loose,” stars GRAMMY®-nominated global pop star Troye Sivan and the dance group CDK Company, with direction and choreography by Sergio Reis. Set to Thundercat’s viral hit “Funny Thing,” the film, shot by Dan Martensen, reunites Sivan and Reis and features original choreography showcasing dancers in baggy and loose fit denim, inspiring free movement and personal style.

“This fall, we are celebrating Gap’s 55-year heritage in denim with a collection of loose styles that allow for self-expression,” said Mark Breitbard, President and CEO, Gap. “Our new campaign featuring Troye Sivan perfectly captures the spirit of this moment with an attitude that showcases the movement of our denim and delivers fashion as entertainment.”

Gap’s fall denim collection offers endless opportunities for self-expression. The cast of performers showcase the versatility of Gap’s new denim assortment, styled in head–to-toe looks that celebrate both a fit and “get loose” mindset:

  • Troye Sivan wears the Men’s Baggy Jean in rigid dark wash denim with the Supima Relaxed Tee in white. Sivan also wears the ’90s Loose Cargo Jean in brown styled with the Heavyweight Zip Hoodie and Corduroy Jacket in his second look.
  • The cast of dancers wear a range of Gap’s new fall denim in seasonal washes and fits. Key styles include the women’s Baggy, Extra Baggy, and Horseshoe Jeans, plus men’s ’90s Loose Jean, Baggy Jean, and Denim Cargos paired with classic tees, shirting, and utility pieces.

Born in South Africa and raised in Australia, Sivan is known not only for his unique sound, blending electro pop and smooth melodies, but also for his distinct style that perfectly reflects his personality and art. With a combined social following of over 39 million, he has quickly become one of the most celebrated artists in recent pop culture and has built a captivated international fanbase that has followed him along his journey from actor to vlogger to award-winning musician.

“Being part of the Gap campaign and wearing their denim feels like a perfect fit. Dance has become a staple in my life, giving me confidence and a sense of timeless cool,” said Troye Sivan. “I’m honored to be part of something that embodies such effortless style and self-expression.”

Gap’s Fall 2024 campaign launches across digital and print media, out-of-home, video, social and Gap brand channels today, August 21, with the fall denim collection available to shop in stores and online now. Marty Stuart’s Extensive Collection of Country Music Artifacts Joins the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum’s Permanent Collection

The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum celebrated the addition of the Marty Stuart Collection to the museum’s permanent holdings. Stuart’s collection of more than 22,000 items is the largest private assemblage of country music artifacts in the world, joining the world’s largest public collection held by the museum.

The acquisition was made possible through the generosity of Stuart, along with a lead preservation gift from the Willard & Pat Walker Charitable Foundation and major additional support from Loretta and Jeff Clarke. The nonprofit museum now owns the collection, holding it in the public trust and providing the highest level of artifact care and collection management.

The Marty Stuart Collection spans over a century of country music history and includes more than 1,000 stage wear and clothing items, 100 instruments, 50 original song manuscripts and more. Items in the collection include significant artifacts from Country Music Hall of Fame members Johnny CashPatsy ClineMerle HaggardGeorge JonesLoretta LynnDolly PartonElvis PresleyCharley PrideJimmie RodgersHank Williams and many others. Additionally, Stuart’s collection includes items from his own Country Music Hall of Fame career, including his expansive collection of photographs taken by Stuart himself, which have been exhibited at museums and published in books.

The momentous occasion was celebrated during a special ceremony in the museum’s Ford Theater illuminating Stuart’s passion for country music and its preservation. The event featured several performances with historic instruments from Stuart’s collection:

  • Country music trio Chapel Hart performed “Will the Circle Be Unbroken,” with recording artist and songwriter Charlie Worsham playing a 1970 Fender Telecaster once owned by Pops Staples, the patriarch and a member of gospel and R&B group the Staple Singers, who recorded the song.
  • Country Music Hall of Fame member Vince Gill performed “Marty & Me,” a newly written song by Gill and Stuart. Gill played George Jones’ 1958 Martin D-28 guitar, customized with unique, mother-of-pearl inlays and Jones’ name on the fingerboard.
  • Grammy-winning artist Chris Stapleton performed “Why Me Lord,” which was recorded by Johnny Cash and written and previously recorded by Kris Kristofferson. Stapleton played Cash’s Martin D-45 acoustic guitar, which also belonged to Hank Williams.
  • Marty Stuart closed the ceremony with a performance of Flatt & Scruggs’ “Don’t Let Your Deal Go Down,” with Shawn Camp playing Lester Flatt’s Martin D-28 guitar from the museum’s permanent collection.

The backing band for the event included members of the Earls of Leicester and consisted of Mike Bub (bass), Shawn Camp (acoustic guitar), Charlie Cushman (banjo), Jimmy Stewart (dobro), Johnny Warren (fiddle) and Jeff White (mandolin).

Kyle Young, CEO of the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, provided remarks throughout the event. He opened the ceremony by reading from an essay 11-year-old Stuart wrote for a school assignment about his future goals: “A musician is what I have been wanting to be. That is my true goal for life, and I hope to accomplish this goal and do it well because music will be my love forever,” Stuart wrote.

Marty Stuart has fulfilled those childhood dreams many times over. Today, he is making our dreams come true, with the crucial help of two key donors,” said Young. “We’re incredibly grateful for Marty’s philanthropy — and a lead gift from the Willard & Pat Walker Charitable Foundation with major support from Loretta and Jeff Clarke — for enabling the museum to safeguard and share this historic collection in perpetuity. We’re here to celebrate this remarkable addition to our collection, revel in Marty’s extraordinary foresight and collecting skill, and rejoice in a new chapter for this museum.”

Many items from the Marty Stuart Collection will be on display as part of the museum’s permanent exhibition, Sing Me Back Home: Folk Roots to the Present, which takes visitors chronologically through the history of country music. Artifacts on display rotate often and Stuart’s collection will play a key role in the exhibit’s narrative and the museum’s educational mission.

As part of the acquisition agreement, the museum has entered a longstanding collaboration with Marty Stuart’s Congress of Country Music in his hometown of Philadelphia, Mississippi, where it will exhibit items from the Marty Stuart Collection at its forthcoming museum. The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum will loan additional artifacts from its own permanent collection for display, as well as provide preservation, education and administrative consultation and support to the Congress.

“This is a top of the world moment for me,” said Marty Stuart. “To have my collection live alongside the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum’s is monumental, to be a part of a ceremony and witness the Congress of Country Music and its people formally welcomed into the family of country music is a spiritual high. And, to share such a gathering with family and friends from both Nashville, as well as Mississippi, is just the best. Such a day only comes along once in a lifetime.”

During the ceremony, Stuart formally presented his childhood essay to the museum.

Mandy Macke, executive director of the Willard and Pat Walker Charitable Foundation, also spoke at the event about the importance of the collection and its preservation.

“The Walker Foundation is deeply honored to play a role in making this dream a reality,” said Macke. “The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum is the ideal steward of this precious collection. Not only will it extend the highest level of care to each individual artifact, but it will also share and showcase the collection’s spirit with the world.”

The donation ceremony will be available to watch today on the museum’s YouTube channel.

Launching a venue like Sphere challenged the band to create a once-in-a-lifetime audio/visual concert experience and the same standards were upheld for the film.  Co-directors The Edge and Morleigh Steinberg spoke about the filmmaking process:

“The goal was to give the immersive movie goers as close to the live U2:UV concert experience as possible — and then some. I’ve never seen a U2 show. I’m so relieved I caught a great one,” said The Edge.

“We knew all the tremendous capabilities of the technology, but we didn’t know what to expect from the process of making this film.  The work became a true collaboration between band, artists, producers, and technology teams.  The end result is a cinematic experience that transports viewers into the energy and beauty of the live show,” said Morleigh Steinberg.

V-U2 is a first-of-its-kind immersive film that will transport audiences back to U2’s groundbreaking live Sphere shows and make them feel like they are there,” said Josephine Vaccarello, Executive Vice President, Live, MSG Entertainment, who oversees live bookings for Sphere. “This concert film was created specifically for Sphere, and will utilize the venue’s technologies to create an experience that is only possible at this next-generation entertainment medium.”

V-U2 immortalizes the acclaimed ‘U2:UV Achtung Baby Live At Sphere’ show directed by Willie Williams. The film of the show was directed by The Edge and Morleigh Steinberg and was produced by The Edge, Bono and Adam Clayton, along with producer Alan Moloney, in a unique collaboration with Sphere Entertainment. Stefaan “Smasher” Desmedt, video director of the original show, also served as Associate Director of the film. Music production was by Jacknife Lee and Joe O’Herlihy, the band’s longtime director of sound.  Sphere Studios’ Andrew Shulkind served as Director of Photography and the film was edited by the Studios’ Robert Rivers Malina. U2’s management is led by Irving and Jeffrey Azoff, both Executive Producers of the film. Jim Dolan is Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Sphere Entertainment; Jennifer Koester serves as Sphere’s President and Chief Operating Officer; Carolyn Blackwood is Head of Sphere Studios; and Josephine Vaccarello is Executive Vice President, Live for MSG Entertainment’s Live division, and oversees live bookings for Sphere.

A global news event which saw the world’s biggest rock band open the world’s most state-of-the-art venue, ‘U2:UV Achtung Baby Live At Sphere’ quickly became a pop culture moment and a must-see for music lovers everywhere. The show’s stunning visuals and live music performance, combined with the venue’s immersive technology elements, including the world’s most advanced audio system, became an instant social media sensation as hundreds of thousands of fans shared their U2:UV experience across multiple platforms generating billions of impressions, making U2:UV a truly global phenomenon.  One of the band’s most ambitious creative projects to date, it saw them work once again with longtime creative collaborator and show director Willie Williams, artists including Es DevlinJohn Gerrard and Marco Brambillaand longtime partner and producer Brian Eno.

Acknowledged as the most innovative live act in the world, U2 have always – since their earliest days, including the industry-defining ZOO TV Tour which broke the mold in 1992 – consistently pushed the boundaries of live performance, with ground-breaking stage shows that embrace the latest in technology and innovation. ‘U2:UV Achtung Baby Live At Sphere’ saw the band blaze a trail yet again, with fans, press and industry leaders hailing the run, and the venue, as the future of live entertainment.

New Order Announce ‘Brotherhood’ Deluxe Box Set And Season 2 Podcast

Today (4th September), New Order announce a new remastered set of formats for their album Brotherhood, to be released via Warner Music on 22nd November 2024, available in 2CD, 2DVD and 1LP. Also being made available are reissues of the respective 12” singles Bizarre Love Triangle, State Of The Nation and Touched By The Hand Of God with corresponding b-sides. Brotherhood is the fourth in the series of limited edition Definitive boxsets which includes Movement (2019), Power, Corruption and Lies (2020) and Low-Life (2023).

Written, recorded and produced by New Order, Brotherhood was originally released via Factory Records in September 1986 and peaked at #9 in the UK Albums Charts. This new collection for Brotherhood includes the album remastered on vinyl and CD and 2CD which features 9 unreleased tracks and demos from a recording session in Japan in 1985 and a 2DVD with live performances from Brixton Academy (1987), G-Mex Manchester (1986), Glastonbury and TV shows from UK and Europe, all previously unavailable on DVD.

Also announced today is Season 2 of Transmissions: The Definitive Story of Joy Division & New Order, featuring brand new and exclusive interviews with band members Bernard Sumner, Stephen Morris, Gillian Gilbert and Peter Hook and special guest contributors including: Johnny Marr, Billy Corgan, Christine And The Queens, Warpaint’s Stella Mozgawa, Keith Allen, Peter Saville, Andrew O’Hagan, Arthur Baker, Kevin Cummins, DJ Paulette, Megan Louise, The Chemical Brothers’ Tom Rowlands, Paul Morley, Jo Whiley, Kevin Saunderson, Tarquin Gotch, Will Sergeant, Virgil Abloh, Hot Chip’s; Alexis Taylor, Mike Pickering, Neil Tennant, Daniel Avery, Charlie Gunn… and Bez.

Narrated by BBC Radio’s Elizabeth Alker, Season 2 finds our unlikely heroes adjusting after the surprise global success of Blue Monday transforms New Order into stars; Quincy Jones is knocking down their door with offers of a US record deal, John Hughes is hunting them down for soundtrack work, New York’s hippest producers are lining up to get in the studio and huge US success beckons. But as New Order’s profile grows, so too do the demands and excesses and the band begin to realise just how far they’ve come, and to question how far the road might take them. This series documents arena tours, Ibizan insanity, a behind-the-scenes look at the chaotic peak of the Hacienda, the creation of three more classic albums Brotherhood (1986) Technique (1989) Republic (1993) and a certain timeless soccer World Cup anthem… World In Motion.

Speaking about New Order’s career to date, singer Bernard Sumner says, “if you do it the way everyone else does it, you might have more success. But it’ll be a short burn, whereas with the way New Order did it, it made us more interesting. But it wasn’t intentional though, we just did what we wanted to do and didn’t really listen to anyone”

On New Order’s 80s success in the US, drummer Stephen Morris, “America had never heard of Joy Division. In England and Europe at the time there was still this thing where you get people coming to see you, expecting you to play ‘Love Will Tear Us Apart’. Whereas in America, they would approach you with an open mind, and the fact that the audiences did get bigger justified our bloody mindedness with not being Joy Division…”

Keyboardist Gillian Gilbert on experiencing the US music industry, “I don’t know what they thought of us. Rob [Gretton, manager] was always, ‘You shouldn’t single out one person as the main focus, even Ian. You’re all the same.’ We were all on the same level. So I don’t know what they made of us. They used to turn up in suits. That was the main thing you’d see. All really smart record guys in suits.”

Peter Hook on how their club The Hacienda anticipated the coming rave music scene. “Watching the Hacienda and watching Rob and Mike Pickering’s belief in Detroit and Chicago House in 1983, 84, all the way through nights that they put on with exactly the same DJs in 91, in 83! They believed in the music a long time before Ecstasy swept it along in its tidal wave.”

Billy Corgan, Smashing Pumpkins: I was at a club. So I’m standing there and it’s a normal night. And for the first time, here comes the kick drum for Blue Monday. As the kick drum hit, everybody in the club started running to the dance floor. Running. So it instantly went from like 30 people to 300 in seconds. And I’m like, ‘What is happening?’ I’m getting chills even just thinking about the moment. And it was like, Oh my God, I’m hearing a song I will hear for the rest of my life. I saw my generation go, ‘This is the song.’

DJ Paulette: “New Order gave Manchester a place to socialise. A place to dream. Music to have babies by. Meet their friends by. Gigs to remember for the rest of their lives. Record collections to treasure. It’s like New Order have given people in Manchester everything, everything.”

Tom Rowlands, The Chemical Brothers, “I think the key to them is the strength of the individual voices in the band. And each individual voice being so recognisable on the record. It’s insane, really, they get it all to fit into these songs, every single person in that band has a voice that would carry a whole other band.”

The concert/documentary film features Joni Mitchell in a modern interview, explaining the events and her reactions. The complete performance is also intercut with vintage footage from the festival attendees and the promoters to give better context to Joni’s personal recollections from the Isle of Wight in what is one of the most unique and memorable performances of the era.
