The AVIF (AV1 Image File Format) has gained considerable attention for its ability to deliver high-quality images with smaller file sizes. It utilizes modern compression techniques to provide better efficiency compared to older image formats. However, despite its advanced capabilities, AVIF isn’t universally supported. This lack of compatibility makes it necessary for many users to convert AVIF to JPG, a format that is recognized and widely used across various platforms, devices, and software.

In this article, we will explore the importance of AVIF to JPG conversion, discussing the best tools and techniques available. We will guide you through both online tools and desktop software, showing you how to convert efficiently and maintain image quality.

Converting AVIF to JPG

The AV1 Image File Format (AVIF) is a modern image format that leverages the AV1 video codec for compression. Designed to compete with formats like JPEG, PNG, and WebP, AVIF offers a unique combination of smaller file sizes and high visual quality.

Key Features of AVIF

  • Superior Compression: AVIF compresses images more efficiently than traditional formats like JPEG or PNG, resulting in smaller file sizes without a significant loss of quality.
  • Enhanced Image Quality: AVIF supports features like HDR, alpha transparency, and lossless compression, allowing it to deliver better visuals in certain scenarios.

Why Convert AVIF to JPG?

The JPG (or JPEG) format has been the go-to image format for decades. Its universal compatibility and wide acceptance across platforms, devices, and applications make it an ideal choice when converting AVIF images. Here are some reasons why converting AVIF to JPG might be essential:

Compatibility Issues

While AVIF is gaining ground, it still isn’t as widely supported as JPG. Many web browsers, photo editors, and social media platforms have limited or no support for AVIF, meaning users may face challenges when sharing or displaying AVIF images online.

Accessibility

Converting AVIF to JPG ensures that your images are accessible on all platforms, whether they’re being viewed on desktop computers, mobile phones, or web-based applications. JPG’s universal appeal makes it the preferred format for online sharing.

Practical Reasons

Most photo editing software, including popular tools like Photoshop, GIMP, and online editors, work more seamlessly with JPG. For users looking to edit their images, converting AVIF to JPG becomes a practical step to ensure smooth compatibility with these programs. Additionally, JPG is better suited for web usage, social media uploads, and online galleries.

Best Tools for Converting AVIF to JPG

Ultimately, choosing the best method comes down to your experience level and the tools at your disposal. For casual users, online tools are quick and effective, while professionals may prefer desktop software or manual conversion for greater control. The conversion from AVIF to JPG ensures your images are ready for broad usage, from social media to professional presentations.

Omega 3 Fish Oil for Athletes: Boosting Performance and Recovery

By Mitch Rice

Athletes are always in search of something that will give them an advantage over the competition, reduce recovery time, and maintain optimal health. With all the hype surrounding new training techniques and fad diets it’s easy to overlook a supplement that fits all three. One of the best omega 3 supplement we’re talking about is Omega-3 fish oil; this natural supplement can provide athletes with numerous benefits including increased endurance and reduced post-workout muscle soreness. In this article, we will discuss how Omega-3 fish oil can benefit athletes looking to increase performance and recover faster from workouts.

What is Omega-3 Fish Oil?

Omega-3 fish oil is a type of fat that occurs naturally in the oils of certain fish, such as salmon, mackerel, and sardines. It’s packed with two specific essential fatty acids: EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid). These fatty acids are known as “essential” because they cannot be produced by the body; they must be acquired through food or supplements.

While Omega-3s have been found to support heart health and brain function overall, athletes in particular take an interest in these fats for their ability to decrease inflammation, promote joint health, and even enhance performance.

How Omega-3 Fish Oil Boosts Athletic Performance

Enhances Endurance

One of the most important omega-3 fish oil benefits for athletes is its ability to increase endurance. Studies have indicated that omega-3s could make oxygen usage in the body more efficient. That means athletes might be able to push themselves at a higher intensity for a longer period, without feeling as tired.

In addition, omega-3 fish oil can promote better blood flow, which is crucial for getting oxygen and nutrient-rich blood to muscles during physical activity. With improved circulation, your muscles will receive the food they need to power through long practices and competitions.

Reduces Muscle Inflammation and Soreness

After intense exercise, muscles can become inflamed and sore. This is a natural part of the body’s repair process, but for athletes it can hinder recovery and impair performance in future sessions. Omega-3 fish oil reduces inflammation in the body, helping to speed up recovery time and reduce muscle soreness.

Omega-3s lower the production of inflammatory molecules called cytokines that are often associated with pain and swelling after hard exercise. This means that athletes who supplement their diet regularly with omega-3 fish oils might not only recover more quickly from exercising but also have less down-time between training sessions.

Supports Joint Health

Athletes put a lot of strain on their joints, whether they’re running, lifting weights, or engaging in other high-impact activities. Over time, this strain can lead to joint pain and stiffness, especially for those who have conditions like arthritis.

Omega-3 fish oil is known for its ability to support joint health by reducing inflammation and helping to maintain the structure of joint tissues. Studies have shown that Omega-3s can reduce symptoms of joint pain and improve mobility in people with arthritis, making it a valuable supplement for athletes looking to protect their joints and stay active for longer.

Improves Muscle Protein Synthesis

Muscle protein synthesis is the process in which the body repairs and builds muscle tissue in response to muscular activity. It is a long-term adaptation mechanism that occurs after weeks or even months of training. For athletes, this process is especially important as it enables them to grow stronger and recover more quickly after their workouts.

Research has shown that Omega-3 fish oil can increase protein synthesis, particularly when combined with protein intake after exercise. By facilitating the building of new muscle mass, Omega-3 helps athletes become stronger and enhance their overall performance.

How Omega-3 Fish Oil Speeds Up Recovery

Reduces Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness (DOMS)

One of the most frustrating things about exercise for athletes is delayed onset muscle soreness, or DOMS. You know, that soreness that sets in 24 to 48 hours after a workout that makes it hard to even get out of bed, let alone effectively train.

Omega-3 fish oil can help lessen the impact and severity of DOMS by decreasing inflammation and helping muscles recover faster. Athletes who regularly take Omega-3s will often experience less post-exercise soreness, which means they can get back at their training sooner.

Supports Immune Function

Intense exercise can have the opposite effect and actually weaken immune function, leaving athletes at higher risk for catching an illness. This is often seen in endurance athletes who complete long, grueling workouts that can place too much stress on the body.

Omega-3 fish oil helps to support immune function by reducing inflammation and improving how the body responds to stress. For athletes, omega 3 supplements not only helps keep them healthy from illness but also keeps them consistently training by avoiding sickness.

Aids in Faster Healing of Injuries

Injuries are an unfortunate reality of sports and physical activity. They can range from pulled muscles and sprained ankles to more serious injuries that can put athletes on the sideline for days, weeks or even months.

Omega-3 fish oil aids in the repair of damaged tissue by reducing inflammation within the body. By taking omega-3s, athletes lower their risk of injury requiring surgeries as well as experience quicker recovery times if injured.

How Much Omega-3 Fish Oil Should Athletes Take?

How much Omega-3 fish oil you need as an athlete can vary based on your activity level, health, and diet. That said, most experts suggest athletes shoot for a minimum of 1,000 milligrams combined EPA and DHA daily either through eating fatty fish like salmon or via a high quality Omega-3 Fish Oil supplement.

It should be noted that you need to take Omega-3’s consistently in order to see the best results. Athletes should be aiming to consume Omega-3’s on a daily basis for optimal performance and recovery.

Conclusion

For anyone looking to improve their performance, recovery, and overall health, Omega-3 fish oil is a supplement you must include into your supplement regimen. With the ability to increase endurance, decrease muscle soreness, support joint health as well as enhance healing time we recommend this for all individuals of regular physical activity.

Making Omega-3 fish oil a part of your daily routine will help you to take advantage of everything it has to offer and make sure that you’re performing at your best. No matter if you’re a competitive athlete or someone who just likes to stay active, Omega-3 fish oil can benefit you and your health for many years.

Neil Young To Release Four Classic Titles Freedom, Ragged Glory, Weld, and Arc From The Official Release Series Volume 5

The music of Neil Young is not ruled by calendars or convention. Since Young’s first solo album in 1968, his sonic trajectory has always been what he feels is necessary to carry him forward. All the original releases and now official reissues are a journey of discovery. It sometimes feels like there is not a difference between the past, the present and the future. The music all lives together.

In July of 2023, Young released the OFFICIAL RELEASE SERIES VOLUME 5, a stunning collection comprised of four classic albums, on vinyl and CD, that begins with the exciting renaissance that came with the release of FREEDOM in 1989, and continues on the unequaled exploration of collections RAGGED GLORY (1990), WELD (1991) and ARC (1991). In many ways, it is a musical travelogue of how Young saw the future and opened up creative worlds for the use of sound and originality which had not been used before.

Today, each of these titles from ORS 5 will become available once again as stand-alone albums on both vinyl and CD. When these four albums were released in the box set last July, it was the first time they had been remastered for vinyl.

All formats will be available at the Greedy Hand Store at Neil Young Archives (NYA) and music retailers everywhere.  Hi-res digital audio will be available at Neil Young Archives and most DSPs.  All Greedy Hand Store purchases come with free hi-res digital audio downloads from the Xstream Store © at NYA.

In Neil Young’s extensive career, this period of music came at a definite turning point. The 1990s were almost ready to start, and Young had recently returned to his long-time home at Reprise Records. It definitely appeared to be a joyous and jubilant moment for the man who had recently celebrated the 21-year anniversary of a solo career that had never stopped progressing. The first album from that series is aptly named FREEDOM, and includes the song “Rockin’ in the Free World.”

RAGGED GLORY (1990) was a non-stop celebration for the music Neil Young & Crazy Horse are still creating at full force, and was recorded at Young’s Broken Arrow Ranch in Northern California. The 10 song original album is expanded for this re-issue with 4 rare tracks. “Interstate” and “Don’t Spook The Horse” were both b-sides to singles. “Box Car” and the 12 minute “Born To Run” were both previously unreleased versions prior to release in the ORS 5 box. The 4 additional songs have resulted with the album expanded to 3 LPs and 2 CDs. The album was remastered from the original analogue tapes.

WELD (1991) is one of the most groundbreaking albums of Neil Young’s history. It’s a live album recorded with Crazy Horse after the release of RAGGED GLORY. It was from a wildly creative period of the band’s history, and as Neil Young has often done, gave notice that he was a rock & roll originator who could never be second-guessed.

ARC (1991) is the live companion collection to WELD, and at the time generated the kind of musical notoriety that has often marked Young’s creations. ARC is a 3-minute outburst of feedback, improvisation, guitar solos and vocal fragments. When released in the ORS 5 box, it marked the album’s first release on vinyl.

David Bowie’s Iconic Album ‘The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars’ Debuts in Dolby Atmos with Newly Unveiled Footage from the Ziggy Stardust Tour

Parlophone Records is proud to announce the first ever Dolby Atmos spatial audio version of DAVID BOWIE’s THE RISE AND FALL OF ZIGGY STARDUST AND THE SPIDERS FROM MARS making its debut in Dolby Atmos spatial audio. The new mix of the album will be available on Blu-Ray Audio on 6th September here.

The Blu-Ray audio disc of THE RISE AND FALL OF ZIGGY STARDUST AND THE SPIDERS FROM MARS features four iterations of this timeless album: 2024 Dolby Atmos mix, 2024 Stereo Mix (96 khz / 24-bit pcm), original 1972 Stereo Mix – 2012 remaster (192 khz / 24-bit pcm), original 1972 Stereo Mix – 2012 remaster (48 khz / 24-bit pcm). The Atmos version of the album was mixed by Emre Ramazanoglu and Ken Scott at RAK Studios, London.

Ahead of the release, spectacular previously unseen footage from the Ziggy Stardust tour shot in the UK during 1972 and 1973 by late Bowie collaborator & photographer Mick Rock has been revealed, featuring the album version of “Starman” as its soundtrack.

Of this new Dolby Atmos mix the album’s co-producer, Ken Scott says “You’re in there with the act, with David. He was so theatrical I think being able to put him into an immersive place makes this a really good choice for an Atmos mix. My whole philosophy with this has been to make it more like a live experience. And I’ve even got him moving about the stage a little towards the end, the way he would have in real life. Hopefully it just feels as if you’re in the theatre with this amazing show going on.”

THE RISE AND FALL OF ZIGGY STARDUST AND THE SPIDERS FROM MARS is the breakthrough album that catapulted David Bowie into the international spotlight. Over the past 50 years it has remained a touchstone record, growing in stature with each passing year. It is now ingrained in popular culture, its undeniable influence spanning musicians from Arcade Fire to Lady Gaga, to Harry Styles’s androgynous fashion sense to Noel Fielding’s shirts on The Great British Bake-Off to Ziggy make-up challenges on Tik-Tok. David Bowie laid to rest the Ziggy Stardust persona in July 1973 at his infamous last show with the Spiders From Mars at London’s Hammersmith Odeon, but Ziggy’s impact reverberates to this day.
