That Time Daniel Radcliffe Was Nylon Magazine’s Receptionist For An Hour

A few weeks ago, Daniel Radcliffe stopped by the NYLON offices and sat at the front desk, unbeknownst to staffers and office visitors. The following was written by a NYLON employee, who wishes to remain anonymous. This is her tale.

It was a Thursday afternoon, just like any other. I was sitting at my desk, tired and a tad despondent, when I decided to “stretch my legs.” And by that, I mean grab a bag of Cheez-Its*. As I turned the corner to the lobby, I was blinded. The pink neon NYLON sign had been cooking for hours, and it was very bright. I reached around the desk, grabbed a bag, and made my merry way back to my desk. As I walked back, out of the corner of my eye, I saw that there was a man sitting at the desk. I turned my head, and, to my delight, I realized that my peripheral vision had not failed me. It was Daniel Radcliffe sitting at the front desk. Yes, that Daniel Radcliffe. Confused and more than a bit dazed, I stared for a moment before accepting this fact and returning to my desk.

Staring at my computer screen, I thought: That was strange. Was I supposed to say something? Should I say something? Probably not. Then, out of the corner of my eye, I noticed another sight. It was an intern, crying. My peripheral vision was not failing me that day. They were tears of shock and, I think, joy. I looked around and I saw a lot of smiling, blushed faces. They had all “happened” to walk by the lobby. And while some of them engaged with the actor, some of them chose to play it cool and freak out later.

I received no phone calls during that hour, which was strange. And a package that was supposedly delivered to the office for me never made it to my desk. As I started to track down the aforementioned package, I heard a squeal. Apparently Joe Jonas had come into the office, to surprise Daniel and try to resume his job.

Some may call it magical, making an all-too expected allusion to Harry Potter, and others may call it unbelievable, but I would like to sum it up as “a really strange, star-studded day.” And thankfully there is this hidden camera video to prove that it existed.

FX’s ‘Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll’ Renewed for Second Season

FX is signing up for another tour with Denis Leary. The cable network has renewed freshman comedy Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll for a second season. Created by, starring and exec produced by the Rescue Me alum, the comedy will return for a second batch of 10 episodes in 2016.

“The only thing that could make me happier about this announcement is if David Bowie decided to be a guest star during season two,” Leary said. “In which case, my head would explode. Hopefully on-camera so we get a kickass viral video out of it. Not to mention awesome Live+3s. I look forward to once again creating new episodes of television with John Landgraf’s exceptional FX team. And scoring some cool Bastard Executioner swag.”

Spotify releases ‘The New Audio’ study to reach music fans in Europe

The biggest digital music services have grown their audiences. Listening habits are changing, as some younger listeners bypass traditional radio in favor of streaming radio, and older listeners spend more time with new content distribution channels. As people find new ways to access music, they’re soundtracking their lives according to the rules of our on-demand age. They listen on the go and across devices, taking full advantage of mobile and connected platforms. They listen throughout the day, not just during their morning drive. And they listen in the moments that make up their lives, from exercising and commuting to partying, studying and more.

To help marketers navigate this changing landscape, Spotify commissioned global market-research firm TNS to quantify the reach and quality of our free audience in 10 countries across Europe. The study marks the first time Spotify has been studied directly alongside commercial radio channels.

Spotify Free delivers unique audience reach, and their study found in 8 of 10 countries, Spotify is the top audio streaming service, with an average incremental reach is 10% per channel.

Spotify’s audience listens across the day, making it a strong compliment to an audio buy. While radio listening activity overindexes in the morning, Spotify listening builds steadily throughout the day, peaking in the afternoon and early evening.
